Description

Banana House is located in Shela Village on the island of Lamu on the north coast of Kenya. It is a friendly ’Bed & Breakfast’ alternative in Shela just a short walk to Shela beach.

The house is run By Monika, a dutch lady who has been a resident of Lamu for some time now.

It is set within the village and back from the beach, is essentially self-catering except that it actually rents rooms individually, so guests are able to take a single room, a floor or the whole house.

For up to 14 adults and 4 children in 7 rooms.

Complete with a lovely garden, staff and swimming pool.

Accommodation
The Ground Floor contains 3 bedrooms and can be interconnected and 2 bathrooms.
It has a large veranda, great daybed and a lovely garden; ideal for a family with children.

The First Floor has 3 self contained double bedrooms.

The large veranda and dining areas are covered by a makuti roof which provides refreshing shade in the daytime and a place where you can relax in the evening and watch the stars.

The Banana House Rooftop has become a beloved Penthouse of almost 200 square meters containing a large bedroom, bathroom, separate sitting and dining areas plus a sun or star gazing bench with sea views across the tree tops: a private and favourite place to stay in Shela.

Monika’s passion for plants has created a garden that is a lush tropical paradise with bougainvillea, hibiscus and palm trees.

By night it becomes a fairy tale from 1001 nights, Swahili dinners, candles and perfumes of food and scented jasmine.
