Description

Named after the famous lioness in “Born Free”, Elsa’s Kopje, Meru is an award-winning lodge located on Mughwango Hill in Meru National Park. It’s known for its rhino population and  it is built above the site of George Adamson’s original camp. Guests stay in small cottages that blend into the rocky hills, known as kopjes. The lodge also has a private house available for rent, and a honeymoon suite. For environmental reasons, the lodge tries to limit its power use to 10 hours a day. Elsa’s Kopje is part of the Cheli & Peacock portfolio of exclusive resorts.

Elsa’s Kopje Rooms

Guests stay in thatched cottages at Elsa’s Kopje, which are open to the surrounded with rustic wooden railings. The eight cottages are furnished with a double bed or two twin beds, draped in mosquito netting, and each has an en-suite bathroom (some baths are outside). The cottages have private decks; one has a private sitting room instead. Some of the cottages have room for an extra bed, which can be used only by a child under the age of 16. The private house at Elsa’s Kopje has two bedrooms (a double and a twin), each with its own en-suite bathroom. The three-level honeymoon suite has a sitting room and a separate bedroom with a double bed. The house has a private living room and a dining area, as well as its own garden and swimming pool. Its double bedroom has its own dressing room, and a second bedroom has twin beds. The house has room for two extra beds for children under the age of 16. (There are a limited number of extra beds, which must be reserved in advance.)
