Description

Ikweta Safari Camp

It is a small owner operated luxury tented camp inside Meru National Park. The camp is located approximately 2km from the Murera Gate and is open all year round. Ikweta is a good base for those looking to visit Meru and Kora National Parks, both of which boast the big five and abundant bird species. Meru National Park is famous for being the setting of Joy Adamson’s book, ‘Born Free’ which was later turned into a movie featuring Elsa the Lioness.

The Camp has 10 spacious canvas tents with a thatch roof overlay. Each tent is elegantly decorated in safari style and has either twin or double beds. Each tent also has its own en-suite bathroom with solar heated water showers separated from the bedroom area with a natural stone wall. The tents also have private verandahs  allowing guests to sip their morning tea and watch  the sun rises over Meru National park.

Dining

Ikweta Camp has a restaurant that serves delicious fresh food mostly grown from the camps own greenhouse and Ikweta Farms. All meals are served to order and international, vegetarian and children’s meals are available.
