Day 1: Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma, Livingstone (Victoria Falls)

Livingstone (Victoria Falls)
Located a few kilometres from the Zambezi River in southwestern Zambia, the bustling town of Livingstone is famous as the home of the magnificent Victoria Falls.

One of the original natural wonders of the world, the World Heritage Site is known locally as ‘The Smoke that Thunders’. This spectacle is accessible from both Zambia and Zimbabwe and is an ideal place to combine game viewing and water sports.

There is excellent fishing, a terrifying bungee jump and arguably the best commercial whitewater rafting in the world. Visitors can hike around the falls or try ziplining or the bridge swing.

Those seeking more leisurely activities can take sunset cruises along the river, with champagne and snacks included, meander through the vibrant local Livingstone Market, or discover the region’s history and archeology at the Livingstone Museum.

Overnight: Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma
Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma is built on a dramatic bend of the Zambezi River in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, 12km upstream from the world-famous Victoria Falls.

Named after Dr. David Livingstone’s faithful friends Sussi and Chuma, the lodge is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the Zambezi amidst Jackalberry trees and Phoenix palms, providing unrivalled views and exclusivity.

Accommodation is in twelve Sussi tree-houses, connected by wooden walkways and two private Chuma houses, each with two bedrooms.

Game Drive
The diversity of the vegetation at Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park supports a wide range of wildlife such as giraffe, zebra, sable, impala and predators such as leopard, cheetah, wildcat and others.

One of the many highlights for many visitors is the sighting of one or more of the endangered rhino.

Day 2: Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma, Livingstone (Victoria Falls)
Activities: Morning Canoeing
Canoeing
Canoe Safari is a luxurious mobile camp where you leave camp with the sunrise and leisurely canoe your way to the next camp. Floating into camp with the sunset you will find an ice cold drink, hot shower and dinner being prepared.

This 3 night, 4 day safari follows the Zambezi River through the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. Canoeing offers guests a unique way of viewing game, you can glide up to elephants crossing the Zambezi and watch game coming down to the Rive to drink.

Guests have the opportunity to enjoy a two hour canoeing excursion on the Zambezi River. The canoeing trip can be done in the morning or afternoon.

The activity will start from the lodge and can be combined with either a game drive or a boat cruise. Canoeing is offered all year but is weather dependent. Dry bags will be provided for valuables. Minimum age is 15 years.’

African Queen Sunset Cruise

In the fading twilight hours, take a sunset cruise. Heed the call of Africa while sipping traditional cocktails and enjoying tasty snacks.

The transfer will collect you at 15h30 in winter and 16h00 in the summer months in time for the cruise departures at 16h00 in winter and 16h30 in summer.

Following this most memorable of experiences, you will be transferred back to your hotel between 18h30 and 19h00.

Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, Livingstone – Walking Safari
Enjoy a 3 hour leisurely walk in the Mosi-oa-Tunya Park led by a professional guide and Park Scout.

Experience up-close encounters with the endangered White Rhino and other wildlife, including Buffalo, Hippo, Impala and Warthog. The extensive knowledge of the Guide is not just about the many species of animals and birds but also about the wide variety of trees and plant life along with their local medicinal properties and uses. (not all animal sightings can be guaranteed)

Mukuni Village Tour
Mukuni village is close to the border gate and is home to about 6000 people from the Leya community, who have lived in the Falls area for many generations. Guides are available to take you through the village to get an insight into the traditional lifestyle of rural Africans.

Day 5: End of Itinerary
Activities: Morning Fishing

FISHING
Angle Zambia provides fishing excursions on the Zambezi River upriver from the Victoria Falls. Experienced guides will take the guest to the best fishing areas where over 75 species of fish lurk in the waters of the mighty Zambezi. One of these fish is rated by many anglers as “the finest sporting and fighting fish in the world” – the renowned Tiger Fish. A variety of wildlife may also be viewed along the river.
