WASINI MARINE PARK

Kisite – Mpunguti Marine Park and National Reserves are located off the Kenyan coast,about 75 miles south of Mombasa.

There are currently around 250 varieties of marine fishes, and over 40 varieties of coral species,in the Kisite – Mpunguti Marine Park and National Reserves some of the commonly seen fish include: large numbers of pelagic fish, butterfly, parrot, rockcod, angel, manta ray. Turtles, dolphins, reef sharks are also to be seen.

ITINERARY

After an early morning, and drive to board a ferry to cross to the south coast.

Then proceed to the historical small fishing village of Shimoni driving via coastal settlements with views of palm trees, cashew nuts, and colourful villages of the Digo people.

On arrival at the Shimoni village, board the motorized dhows which cruise and sail  you through an enchanting seascape of Islands to the underwater splendors of the Kisite Marine Park. Mpunguti Islands.

We will snorkel and marvel at the rich marine life where corals, exotic fish and sea plants are protected. As we sail in the calm warm waters, we will be on the lookout for the dolphins that approach the dhow and with their gymnastics, in a manner to beg us to join them for a swimming.

At Wasini Island, we will disembark and take a discovery stroll through the Island and its pure Swahili culture also visiting the giant coral garden and the adjacent mangrove swamp forest.

Our guide will give us an in depth oration throughout the tour. A sumptuous Swahili style seafood lunch is served at Wasini Island Restaurant. Thereafter visit the traditional Muslim village before returning to your hotel late afternoon.
