Detailed Itinerary

Day 01 
Drive from Addis Ababa to Lake Langano. On the way, visit the first Rift Valley Lake Ziway, 160 km from Addis, very rich in bird life. Proceed to Lake Langano; lunch at Langano. Afternoon enjoy swimming and scenic walks.

Overnight at Bekele Molla or Wabishebele Hotel.

Day 02
After breakfast, visit the Abijata-Shalla Lakes National Park very remarkable for its bird life. Then drive back to Addis Ababa visiting on the way the volcanic lakes of Debere-Zeit.

Tour Summary

Lake Langano is a good three hours (250km) drive south from Addis. The lake is one of a series running south down the Ethiopian Rift Valley – and then on into Kenya. The park was created for many species of aquatic birds, particularly great white pelicans and greater and lesser flamingoes. Lake’s islands are used as breeding sites by many birds including pelicans; and Lake Abijata is their feeding sanctuary. Other birds in the area include white necked cormorant, African fish eagle, Egyptian geeze, various plover species and herons.
