City Tour and Chimpanzee Safari

Nyungwe rainforest is placed in the southwestern Rwanda, at the border with Burundi, south, and Lake Kivu and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. Nyungwe forest has a wide diversity of animal species, making it a priority for conservation in Africa.

Chimpanzees if you are lucky enough to encounter them, you will spend a really enjoyable hour watching them leap from branches, build nests from leaves in the treetops, and play and groom each other.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kigali
You will be met by our driver/guide upon arrival at Kigali International Airport and be transferred to Kigali for a city tour including a genocide memorial site and shopping of African art and craft.

Dinner and overnight at Intercontinental Hotel /Chez Lando Hotel/Okapi Hotel

Day 02: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest
You will be met by our safari guide and proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park. On your arrival, you may decide to carry a guided nature walk.

Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guest House.

Day 03: Chimpanzee Tracking
Early start trekking for the chimpanzees, this can take anything from a few hours to a full day depending on where the chimpanzees are. It should be mentioned that it is not guaranteed to see the chimps as they are unpredictable and can move long distances in one day. There are several other primates in Nyungwe such as the Rwenzori colobus, L’Hoest’s monkey, Silver monkey, Owl faced monkey and the Grey cheeked Mangabey.

Day 04: Departure
Transfer to Kigali International Airport for a departure flight
